CCOA Subcommittees

The Colorado Commission on Aging (CCOA) is the state’s primary advisory body on all matters affecting older Coloradans. The CCOA is a governor-appointed, citizen-led, multidisciplinary commission, comprised of representatives from both the public and private sectors, various professional and personal experiences, and cultural and diverse backgrounds across the state.

In addition to the main commission, the CCOA has five subcommittees.

Age-Friendly Communities Subcommittee

The Age-Friendly Communities Subcommittee collaborates and implements strategies at the state and local level based on the eight domains of livability:

  • Housing
  • Transportation
  • Outdoor Spaces and Buildings
  • Civic Participation and Employment
  • Communications and Information
  • Respect and Social Inclusion
  • Health Services and Community Support
  • Social Participation

Meetings: The Age-Friendly Communities Subcommittee meets on the third Monday of each month from noon to 1 p.m. Join virtually via Zoom.


Healthcare Subcommittee

The Healthcare Subcommittee strategizes to support the healthcare needs of Older Coloradans. The subcommittee prioritizes increasing the number of geriatric trained healthcare providers, streamlining benefits access, and prioritizing health promotion and disease prevention strategies.

Meetings: The Healthcare Subcommittee meets the third Monday of each month from 3 to 4 p.m. Join virtually via Zoom.


Long-Term Services and Supports Subcommittee

The Long-Term Services and Supports (LTSS) Subcommittee prioritizes strategies to improve access to affordable LTSS, direct-care workforce support, and the creation of a family caregiver blueprint.

Meetings: The Long-Term Services and Supports Subcommittee meets on the second Tuesday of each month from 11 a.m. to noon. Join virtually via Zoom.


Workforce Subcommittee

The Workforce Subcommittee prioritizes strategies to support older adults in the workforce. Strategies and tactics include workforce development, reduction/elimination of 50+ worker age discrimination, upskilling/reskilling/nextskilling, ongoing technology training, advancing employment opportunities for people with mild cognitive impairment, awareness and education, and data tracking.

Meetings: The Workforce Subcommittee meets the third Wednesday of each month from 1 to 2 p.m. Join virtually via Zoom.


Economic Security Subcommittee

The Economic Security Subcommittee focuses on strategies to promote economic security and self-sufficiency for older Coloradans. The subcommittee prioritizes food security and developing a blueprint for economic security.

Meetings: The Economic Security Subcommittee meets the second Tuesday of each month from 3 to 4 p.m. Join virtually via Zoom.
